Results of a Web of Science Core Collection search 1990–2014 using key words TOPIC: “detection probability” or “detectability” or “imperfect detection” and TOPIC: reptile or snake or lizard or turtle or tortoise or crocodil* or tuatara or amphibian or frog or toad or salamander or newt or caecilian (total = 287). 2005 coincides with publication of MacKenzie et al. (2005a). Kellner and Swihart (2014) showed that studies of herps generally kept pace with those of fishes, birds, and mammals over this time period.
